Padma Shri Awardee Shovana Narayan performed the Kathak Dance in the Mother Veronica Auditorium PWC, during Spic Macay programme

On 17 th March, 2023 Patna Women’s College organized a Spic Macay programme in
the Mother Veronica Auditorium. The distinguished guest for the programme was
Padma Shri Awardee Shovana Narayan, renowned Indian Kathak Dancer.
Dr. Sister M Rashmi A.C., Principal, Patna Women’s College welcomed the guest
with a Memento and Sapling to the Eminent Guest as a token of gratitude.

Thereafter, Shovana Narayan explained the meaning, essence and origin of Kathak
Dance. She also explained different mudras. She then performed the Kathak Dance
with the accompanists Ustad Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Tabla player, Shri Madho
Prasad, Vocal accompanist and Azhar Shakeel Sir, Violinist.

At last, an interactive session was held where Shovana Narayan Ma’am answered
the students’ inquisitive questions.
Professor Maya Shankar and Mr. Manish coordinated the event as a coordinator of
Spic Macay. The entire event was moderated by Ms. Taniya Banerjee, Assistant
Professor, Department of Political Science.
The whole programme was held under the guidance of the Cultural Coordinators, Dr.
Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head Department of History, Ms Samiksha Sinha,
Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas,
Coordinator, Performing Arts.
