
On 13 th January, 2023, Patna Women’s College Alumni Association (PWCAA), SRISHTI Club, ECO Task
Force (ETF) in collaboration with Tarumitra celebrated ‘Organic Makar Sankranti’. On this occasion, A
Kite Making Competition and Bird Feeder Making Competition was organized. A total of 30 students
participated in the Kite Making Competition and a total of 57 groups participated in the Bird Feeder
Making Competition.

The Eminent Jury members of the competitions were Dr. Zareen Fatima, Head Department of
Economics, Dr. Sister. M. Stuti A.C., Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dr. Rohit Singh,
Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Dr. Shemushi Ityalam Madhu, Head, Department of
Fashion Designing, Dr. Kamlendra Kumar Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, Dr. Rashmi
Sinha, Assistant Professor, Curriculum Studies, and Teaching of Biological Science.
The Exhibition of the competition started with a welcome address by Ms. Meenakshi Mishra
Assistant Professor, Department of Geography and Coordinator SRISHTI Club where explained the
importance of Makar Sankranti and how the country celebrates an end and new beginning with the
Harvest festival. Then, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal, Patna Women’s College, wished everyone
on the eve of Makar Sankranti, and she also told that Makar Sankranti is celebrated when the sun
enters the Capricorn.


Then, the teachers and the students gave a fistful of rice as a ‘Earth Tax.’ Thereafter, all the teachers
and students participated in the Kite flying event.
The whole programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal, Head, Department
of Philosophy and Vice-Chairperson Alumni Association, Patna Women’s College, Dr. Shobha
Srivastava, Head, Department of Zoology and Vice-President ECO-Task Force, Ms. Meenakshi Mishra
Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Coordinator SRISHTI Club and Ms. Devopriya Dutta
and team Tarumitra.
Dr. Aprajita Krishna, Dean Faculty of Science and Head, Department of Physics and her team
prepared a delicious Khichdi which was prepared with organic dal rice from Tarumitra for the
teachers.
