
Patna Women’s College organised its Annual Sports Meet 2022 on Saturday, 17.12.2022. The Chief Guest of the programme
was Prof. Chandrashekhar, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of Bihar; Guest of Honour, Prof. Girish Kumar Choudhary
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Patna University, Patna; Special Guest, Dr. Ejya Yadav, Former MLA , Bihar Vidhan Sabha. The
programme began with the hoisting of the college flag followed by the flagship march-past, lighting the torch and oath taking
ceremony. The students showed their discipline and dedication through a splendid March Past. This year also marked the start
of the College’s very own marching band composed of the students themselves. This was followed by a welcome song and an
address by the Principal.
In her address, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. congratulated the students for their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm within a
short span of time. “Sports is an integral part of our college”, she said. She also acknowledged the hard work of the staff.
Some of the sporting events were the 100 metre hurdles, three-legged race, 200 metre run , obstacle race and many more.

The
winners for the March Past were B.Com. (Group – A : 1st Prize), B.Com. (Group – B : 2nd Prize) and B.Sc. (Group – B : 3rd
Prize). The Indoor Champion was Anshu Matriyee, Zoology, B.Sc.– III, The individual athletic champion was Vedica Nandan,
Sociology, B.A. – III and the Runner up was Simran Kumari, Home Science (B.A. – II). Breaking the stereotypes, the students
displayed a mesmerising amalgamation of sports and dance wherein they presented physical activities as performing arts with a
dance. The coordination of the students in Taali yoga, Dandiya, Taekwondo and sports dance was exceptionally loved by the
audience. Addressing the students, the Chief Guest expressed his delight to be a part of PWC sports event for the first time. He
also motivated the students by Nelson Mandela’s quote ‘ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the World’ He applauded all the coaches of all the sports performance for their hard work and dedication.
The Guest of Honour shared his experience and words of wisdom. He motivated the students by saying ‘you are the future and
you did the best. He also appreciated the entire college and its hard work.
The Special invitee congratulated each and every participants and emphasised on the importance of discipline among all in
every aspect of life. Been a student here and then a teacher, she remembered her memories of Patna Women’s College and felt
proud been called at her alma mater.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Manjula Sushila, Head, Department of Hindi and Sports Incharge of Patna Women’s College
and Ms. Shweta Singh. The overall comparing was done by Dr. Soofia Fatima, Dr. Zareen Fatima and Prerna Sharma and
Richa Kumari, Final year students of Mass Communication. The event was concluded with prize distribution for various
games.
