Women’s Development Forum organized an anger march at Karagil Chowk

“Hundreds of women took to the streets in Patna, wearing black bands over their mouths and dressed in black attire. On Friday, the Women’s Development Forum organized an anger march at Karagil Chowk in Patna. The protest was held to express outrage against the atrocities on women occurring in the country. The women were visibly angered by the inhumane incident in Manipur and the deplorable incident in Begusarai.Vinā Mānavī, the National Coordinator of the Women’s Development Forum, openly challenged those involved in politics regarding such incidents and stated that those engaging in politics over such events should be ashamed. Whenever an unfortunate incident occurs, political parties throw accusations at each other. There should be an immediate and impartial system to punish the guilty without indulging in politics.Vinā Mānavī further expressed that in Bihar, incidents of violence against women are happening daily. The formation of the Women’s Commission after so many years raises questions about the sensitivity of the state’s leadership towards women’s issues. The lack of action on these incidents concerning women reflects their indifference. If these issues are not addressed promptly, women will continue to protest on the streets and surround the legislature.The protest march was also addressed by Arunimā, the National President, Fahima Khatoon, and Poonam Saluja.”
