Patna, 7th November 2024 – Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today visited several ghats along the Ganges River, from Nasriganj Ghat to Kangan Ghat in Danapur, to offer his respects and extend greetings to devotees participating in the Chhath Puja celebrations. Chhath Puja, a festival dedicated to worshipping the Sun God, sees millions of devotees gather at riverbanks and water bodies across Bihar to offer prayers to the setting and rising sun.
The Chief Minister greeted devotees as they performed the “arghya” (water offering) to the setting sun, a significant ritual during this auspicious festival. Dressed in traditional attire, Kumar acknowledged the faith and devotion of the worshippers, expressing his admiration for the deeply rooted cultural significance of Chhath in Bihar.
Kumar emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and convenience for the devotees at the ghats. Extensive arrangements had been made by the state administration, including enhanced lighting, cleanliness drives, and medical aid facilities, to ensure a safe and smooth observance of the festival rituals.
“Chhath Puja is a symbol of Bihar’s cultural heritage and devotion. My heartfelt greetings to everyone celebrating,” Kumar said. The Chief Minister’s presence at the ghats reinforced his connection with the people and the tradition that binds Bihar in unity and reverence.
