Patna: On Saturday, Dr. Mithileshwar Prasad, the Civil Surgeon, conducted a thorough inspection of SGGS Hospital. During his visit, Dr. Prasad reviewed the facilities provided to patients and identified several shortcomings that needed immediate attention.
One of the major issues highlighted during the inspection was the unavailability of bedsheets in the gynecology ward. The Civil Surgeon reprimanded the matron and the nursing staff for this lapse, emphasizing the need to adhere to government standards. He instructed that multi-colored bedsheets, as mandated, must be used daily in the wards, and this should be properly documented in the records.
Following the ward inspection, Dr. Prasad visited the hospital’s pharmacy counter, where 273 different medicines were available. He directed the staff to increase this number to over 300 by procuring additional medicines from BMSICL and purchasing others as needed to meet patient demand.
Dr. Prasad also inspected the Neonatal Special Care Unit (NSCU), where eight newborns were admitted. He stressed that no negligence should be tolerated in the care of these infants. Additionally, he confirmed that cesarean operations, which had previously been delayed, had resumed.
During the inspection, Dr. Prasad found that the lab’s auto-analyzer machine was out of order. He immediately called in a company representative to initiate repairs. Until the auto-analyzer is functional, the lab is operating with a semi-analyzer machine. The Civil Surgeon also instructed doctors not to disrupt emergency services under any circumstances.
Furthermore, Dr. Prasad addressed the issue of unpaid salaries for Mamta workers, ordering that their dues be tagged and promptly disbursed. He assured that all efforts would be made to ensure the hospital provides services that meet the required standards.
This inspection is part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery and patient satisfaction at SGGS Hospital.
