Patna, Saturday: In a major development in the high-profile Dularchand Yadav murder case, the Patna Police on Saturday arrested former MLA and NDA candidate Anant Singh. The arrest was made from Kargil Market in Barh, where Singh was reportedly present. Following his arrest, he was taken to Patna under tight security arrangements for further questioning.
According to police sources, authorities had received intelligence over the past few days suggesting that Anant Singh might soon surrender in connection with the case. The case relates to the recent killing of JDU leader Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, an incident that sent shockwaves through the region. Following the murder, tension gripped the area as supporters of the deceased leader demanded swift action. Yadav’s family members and several local residents had accused Anant Singh and a few others of being involved in the conspiracy and execution of the murder.
Police investigations had been underway for several days, with multiple teams gathering evidence and statements from witnesses. While the motive behind the murder remains under scrutiny, initial reports suggest that it may have been linked to long-standing political and personal rivalries in Mokama, a constituency known for its turbulent political history and strongman influence.
The arrest of Anant Singh, a well-known figure in Bihar’s political landscape, comes at a crucial time as election activities in the region are intensifying. Singh, a former MLA from Mokama and currently the NDA candidate, has a long and controversial political career marked by both strong local support and multiple criminal allegations.
His arrest could significantly alter the political equations in Mokama and adjoining areas. The NDA, which had fielded him despite his controversial background, is now likely to face tough questions regarding candidate selection.
Police officials have stated that Singh will be interrogated further to determine his role in the case, and additional arrests may follow based on the findings. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Mokama and nearby regions to prevent any untoward incidents following the arrest.
Authorities have assured that the investigation will continue impartially and that no one will be spared if found guilty in the murder of Dularchand Yadav.
