The Department of Advertising and Marketing Management, Patna Women’s College,
Autonomous, Patna University, successfully hosted a guest lecture on career decision-making
strategies on August 23, 2024. The event featured Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dean, Outreach and
Student Welfare (OSW) and a Professor at GIMS, Greater Noida, as the keynote speaker. Dr.
Sharma’s lecture, titled “How to Decide Your Career Path,” offered valuable insights into
decision-making processes. She explored both intuitive and rational decision-making strategies,
drawing on examples from cricket, Bollywood, and the movie Titanic to illustrate the hybrid
model of combining these approaches. Dr. Sharma stressed the importance of staying updated
with trending job opportunities and continuously enhancing skills to thrive in today’s competitive

environment. In addition, she highlighted the role of personal mottos and upskilling in career
development, encouraging students to make informed decisions aligned with their individual
goals and aspirations. The lecture was attended with great enthusiasm by students from
Semester III and V of the Department of Advertising and Marketing Management, as well as the
students of Semester V from the Department of Business Administration and Commerce. This
event marked a significant step in guiding students towards making strategic career choices,
equipping them with the knowledge to navigate their professional journeys effectively.
