Patna, February 25, 2025 – The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its crackdown on unauthorized advertisements, posters, and graffiti defacing the city’s walls and public spaces. Officials have begun identifying individuals and agencies responsible for placing advertisements over painted walls, with legal action being initiated under the Property Defacement Act.
PMC has taken a strong stance against those tarnishing the city’s aesthetic appeal by pasting job vacancy notices, promotional materials, and other advertisements on public walls. FIRs are being filed against violators under Section 145 of the Bihar Municipal Act, 2002.
In an effort to enhance Patna’s visual appeal, walls across the city have been adorned with artistic paintings. However, many advertising agencies and individuals have defaced these murals by pasting promotional content over them. Key locations such as Gandhi Maidan, Fraser Road, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Maurya Lok Complex, Ganga Riverfront, and Eco Park have witnessed instances of such vandalism, prompting the municipal commissioner to order strict action.
According to Section 145 of the Bihar Municipal Act, 2002, any form of advertisement, including posters, pamphlets, and wall writings, requires prior written approval from the municipal commissioner. PMC has the authority to remove unauthorized advertisements without issuing legal notice and impose fines on violators. This move aims to maintain the city’s cleanliness and preserve its artistic beautification efforts.
