‘SAMARTH’ Social Work Club Leads Cleanliness Drive at ‘Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh Patna’
Patna, February 24, 2025: The ‘SAMARTH’ Social Work Club of Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, actively promotes community service and social responsibility among students. On February 23, 2025, the club played a pivotal role in the “Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh Patna”, an extensive cleanliness campaign organized under Bihar’s state project “Namami Gange”.

In collaboration with the Department of Social Work P.A.C.E (Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement Programme) and Being Helper Foundation, Patna, the club actively participated in a 251-hour mega cleanliness drive at Digha Ghat, collecting 310 kilograms of waste. The collected waste was systematically transported to the Patna Municipal Corporation’s waste management treatment plant for proper disposal.
Beyond the physical cleanup, the club also conducted a public awareness campaign at Marine Drive Golambar, displaying posters and banners to educate the public about the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and sanctity of the Ganga River.
The ‘Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh Patna’ marks the first-ever large-scale cleanliness initiative of its kind in the city, spanning three months and focusing on ghat cleaning, effective waste management, and active community engagement. The entire initiative was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Coordinator of ‘SAMARTH’ Social Work Club and Head of the Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College, along with Mr. Shubham, State Coordinator of Being Helper Foundation, Patna.
Through such impactful initiatives, ‘SAMARTH’ Social Work Club continues to foster civic responsibility and environmental consciousness, empowering students to be proactive changemakers in society.
