Bihar Police Announces Joining Instructions for 1275 Recommended Sub-Inspectors

The Bihar Police has announced detailed joining instructions for the 1275 candidates recommended for the post of Sub-Inspector. The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) conveyed these recommendations on July 9, 2024. This batch includes 822 men, 450 women, and notably, for the first time, 3 transgender candidates from Patna, Samastipur, and Sitamarhi.

Those deemed eligible post-verification will receive their appointment letters from the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of their respective home districts.

Essential Documents for Joining

Candidates are required to report in person with the following documents:

  1. Valid Photo ID: Such as a Voter ID card, Driving License, or Aadhar Card.
  2. Educational Qualification Certificate: Proof of graduation or an equivalent examination.
  3. Birth Certificate: Original copy of the matriculation certificate.
  4. Caste Certificate: Issued by a competent authority. For female candidates, caste certificates based on their father’s details will be accepted.
  5. Non-Creamy Layer Certificate: For candidates claiming reservation under the non-creamy layer. Female candidates must submit certificates based on their father’s details.
  6. Domicile Certificate: Mandatory for all reserved category candidates, proving permanent residency in Bihar.
  7. Freedom Fighter Certificate: For those claiming descent from freedom fighters.
  8. EWS Certificate: For candidates from economically weaker sections, based on the financial year 2022-23 income.
  9. Transgender Certificate: As per the format prescribed by the Bihar Government, Home Department (Police Branch) under notification number 386, dated January 14, 2021.
  10. Government Employee Certificate: For those currently serving as government employees.
  11. Ex-Servicemen Documents: Pension Payment Order (PPO) and discharge book for ex-servicemen.

Failure to report with these documents within the stipulated period may result in the cancellation of the candidate’s candidature.

Special Instructions for Non-Resident Candidates

Candidates recommended from outside Bihar must report to the designated appointment authority in the Central Region, Patna. The Bihar Police ensures that appropriate appointment authorities are in place, with Deputy Inspectors General designated for offices where Inspector General level officers are posted.

Steps for the Joining Process

All recommended candidates from Bihar are instructed to report between August 1 and August 10, 2024, with their selection letters issued by the commission and all original certificates. They should report to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police designated as the appointment authority in their home district or the respective district’s regional police office.
