These teams conducted raids across various districts in Bihar and West Bengal, based on technical evidence.
The mastermind behind this heist was Subodh Singh, a hardened criminal currently imprisoned in Beur Jail. He orchestrated the robbery with the help of Bittu Singh, another notorious criminal who had previously been in Beur Jail with Subodh, along with other local and external associates.
During the raid, Rahul Kumar, son of the late Bhola Prasad Srivastava, a resident of Adapur, Mansurchak police station, Begusarai district, and currently running a clinic at Line Bazaar, Purnia, was detained for questioning. Rahul revealed that Bittu Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, and Chunnmun Jha, along with other local and external criminals, planned the robbery. Subodh Singh, from Beur Jail, directed the entire operation.
The investigation revealed that the external criminals involved in the robbery were housed in a lodge in Shivpuri, Araria. Meetings between local and external criminals took place in Araria, after which they procured clothes and other items from Max Shopping Mall, Polytechnic Crossing Purnia, and Reliance Trends Araria. A week before the incident, they conducted reconnaissance of the Tanishq showroom.
On the day of the robbery, Chunnmun Jha, a local from Majlishpur, Palasi police station, Araria district, along with others, executed the plan while wearing masks. CCTV footage helped identify their escape routes, and with the assistance of Malda Police, three motorcycles used in the crime were recovered. The criminals present at the crime scene were in contact with inmates in Beur Jail, acting on their instructions.
Anand Jha, Chunnmun Jha’s brother, assisted in the execution of the robbery and even burned Chunnmun Jha’s mobile phone to destroy evidence, which was also recovered.
Additional individuals involved in planning and executing the robbery include Abhimanyu Singh, son of Arvind Kumar Singh, resident of Jaiprakash Colony, Madhubani police station, Purnia district, and Bambam Yadav, son of Mukesh Yadav, resident of Sarsi Milky Ward No. 11, Sarsi police station, Purnia district.
