Patna, October 12, 2024: Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in the grand Ravana Dahan ceremony held at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan today, marking the celebration of Vijayadashami, the festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The event, part of the Sri Ramleela Mahotsav and Ravana Dahan Ceremony 2024, was formally inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The ceremony, organized by the Sri Sri Dussehra Committee Trust, commenced with a warm welcome to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The organizers presented him with a memento, a traditional scarf, and a religious book as a token of respect. The Chief Minister then released balloons, sending a message of peace and harmony across the state. Following this, he performed the customary tilak and aarti for the symbolic figures of Lord Ram and Lord Lakshman.
The symbolic effigies of Kumbhkaran, Meghnad, and finally, Ravana, representing evil, were set ablaze one by one, in keeping with the traditions of the festival.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Information and Public Relations Minister Maheshwar Hazari, Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad, Congress State President and MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, and other senior officials.
Prominent government officials such as Chief Minister’s Principal Secretaries Deepak Kumar and Dr. S. Siddharth, CM’s Secretary Anupam Kumar, Patna Divisional Commissioner Mayank Varwade, Inspector General of Security Vinay Kumar, Patna IG Garima Malik, District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra were also in attendance.
The ceremony witnessed the active participation of the members of the Sri Sri Dussehra Committee Trust, including Chairman Kamal Nopani, President Arun Kumar, and Coordinator Mukesh Nandan, along with other notable personalities.
