In a closely watched contest, Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has emerged victorious in the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat. He defeated Shivchandra Ram of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who secured the second position. The voting for the Hajipur seat took place on May 20th during the fifth phase of the elections.
This election cycle saw a significant battle on the Hajipur seat, featuring Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and LJP president Chirag Paswan against RJD’s seasoned candidate Shivchandra Ram.
Chirag’s candidacy was rooted in his commitment to continue his father’s legacy. The Hajipur seat holds emotional and political significance for the Paswan family, given Ram Vilas Paswan’s longstanding association with the constituency. Chirag’s clear stance on contesting from this seat underlined his determination to uphold his father’s political heritage.
On the other hand, Shivchandra Ram brought considerable experience to the contest. A local leader with deep roots in the community, he has contested from Hajipur multiple times. Shivchandra has served as an MLA and minister twice under the RJD banner, making him a formidable opponent with substantial local support.
