The incident occurred on 18.08.2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, when one of the trainees began vomiting after lunch. The recruit was taken to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Birpur for treatment. By 6:30 PM, several more trainees started feeling unwell, eventually leading to around 190 recruits experiencing mild symptoms of food poisoning. All affected personnel were taken to the hospital for check-ups and were later discharged after treatment. Only seven individuals were kept under observation overnight; they were also discharged once their condition stabilized.
As of now, all trainees have fully recovered, and no one remains hospitalized.
To investigate the incident, officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) inspected the scene, collecting samples of the spices and oil used in cooking, as well as a sample of the vomit for further analysis. A suspicious substance, kept in a cloth pouch by one of the recruits, was also presented for examination.
