New Delhi/Patna: On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the Government of India has announced the launch of the “GST Savings Festival”, giving a major relief to common citizens. Under this initiative, the government has reduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on several essential goods and services, ensuring that consumers get products at lower prices.
According to official information, 99% of goods and services are either tax-free, or charged only 5% to 18% GST. Essential commodities are categorized under 0% or 5% GST slabs, making them more affordable for households across the country.
The government has also brought down GST rates on vehicles and electronics, leading to significant savings:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated: “GST has not only simplified the tax system but also benefited both consumers and traders. Our goal is to bring savings and happiness to every household in India.”
The GST Savings Festival 2025, launched during Navratri, is set to bring direct financial relief to millions of households. With reduced GST rates on agriculture, healthcare, education, clothing, electronics, and daily-use items, the government aims to make essential products more affordable while ensuring a transparent tax system.
This move is expected to provide significant inflation relief during the festive season, boosting consumer confidence and strengthening household budgets.
