Holi Celebration 2026: Patna Women’s College Hosts ‘Colours of Joy’ Holi Dance Competition

Patna, February 26, 2026: The vibrant festival of Holi was celebrated with immense enthusiasm at Patna Women’s College as the institution organized a grand Holi Milan and Holi Dance Competition on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. in the college Sports Ground. The theme of the competition, ‘Colours of Joy’, perfectly reflected the spirit of Holi 2026, bringing together students in a spectacular showcase of culture, colour and creativity.

The Holi celebration commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the Holika pyre by Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal, along with the jury members and cultural coordinators. The ritual marked the symbolic triumph of good over evil, a central message of the festival of Holi.

Nine groups participated in the Holi Dance Competition, presenting diverse regional traditions of Holi from across India through energetic and captivating performances. The students danced to popular Holi songs such as ‘Holi Khele Masane Mein,’ ‘Phagunwa Mein Rang Ras Ras Barse,’ and ‘Holi Ke Rang Mein,’ filling the campus with festive fervour and colourful vibrance.

The esteemed jury panel included Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics; Ms. Tulika Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography; and Ms. Anisha Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of English. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur highlighted the cultural and social significance of Holi, emphasizing the importance of colours in life and advising participants to align their costumes more closely with the essence of their chosen songs. She praised the students for their dedication and hard work.

The message of Holi was delivered by Dr. Smita Kumari, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, who spoke about the festival’s deeper spiritual meaning and its role in fostering unity and harmony.

Later, Dr. Sister Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal, applauded the participants and announced the results of the Holi 2026 dance competition. Code 04 (Mixed Group) secured the first prize, Code 07 from the Department of Education won the second prize, and Code 02 from the Department of History claimed the third prize.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal, and Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal. The event was efficiently coordinated by the Cultural Coordinators — Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head, Department of History; Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce; and Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator, Performing Arts.

Riya Nagvanshi, Sports Secretary, and Megha Kumari, Joint Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council 2025-26, served as the comperes for the Holi celebration, while Vaishnavi, Joint Cultural Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.

The Holi Milan 2026 at Patna Women’s College concluded on a colourful and joyous note, reinforcing the true spirit of Holi — unity, happiness, and the celebration of life through colours.
