85th All-India Presiding Officers’ Conference to Begin in Patna

Patna: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the 85th All-India Presiding Officers’ Conference in Patna on Monday. The two-day event will focus on the theme, “75th Anniversary of the Constitution: Contribution of Parliament and State Legislative Bodies in Strengthening Constitutional Values.”

The conference will serve as a platform for in-depth discussions and dialogues on the role of legislative institutions in upholding constitutional principles. One of the highlights of the event will be the release of the 8th edition of the book Parliamentary Practices and Procedures by the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Prior to the main conference, the 61st Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India will take place on January 19, 2025. This preparatory event will focus on administrative and procedural matters to enhance the functioning of legislative bodies.

The concluding session of the Presiding Officers’ Conference on January 21 will feature addresses by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Their speeches are expected to underscore the importance of legislative institutions in safeguarding democratic values and fostering good governance.

The 85th All-India Presiding Officers’ Conference is a significant event in the legislative calendar, bringing together leaders and secretaries from legislative bodies across the country. It aims to strengthen parliamentary practices and promote dialogue on key constitutional and legislative issues.
