Patna: MP Pappu Yadav staged a protest on Friday in support of BPSC candidates, demanding the cancellation of the 70th PT examination. The protests, marked by rail and highway blockades, were held across Bihar. Early in the morning, Yadav, along with his supporters, halted trains at the Secretariat Halt railway station and sat on the tracks. Patna police eventually removed them forcibly from the site.
After the rail blockade, Yadav led a peaceful march with his supporters from Secretariat Halt to Income Tax Roundabout, emphasizing the need for re-examination due to alleged irregularities in the BPSC exam process.
Speaking to the media during the demonstration, Pappu Yadav declared, “I am ready to face batons and bullets for the BPSC candidates. I will take their fight from the streets to the parliament and even to the Supreme Court. We have already spoken with Kapil Sibal regarding this matter. Paper leaks are one of the most pressing issues of our time.”
Yadav pledged to eradicate the issue of paper leaks in Bihar, stating, “This fight is for the future of our children. Even if the government forcibly conducts the examination, I will challenge it in the Supreme Court. This movement will be as significant as the farmers’ agitation or the Mandal Commission protests. It will continue peacefully until the 70th BPSC PT exam is canceled.”
The Bihar Bandh called by Pappu Yadav disrupted normal life across the state, with supporters blocking NH-31 and holding demonstrations against the Nitish Kumar government. Protesters raised slogans and alleged widespread corruption and irregularities in the BPSC exam process. They also condemned the police for using excessive force, including baton charges, against students during earlier protests.
Supporters vowed to continue their agitation until the exam is canceled. Key protesters, including Premchand Singh, Rajesh Pappu, Satyendra Paswan, Abhijeet Singh, Rajiv Mishra, Raju Danveer, Manish Yadav, Manjay Lal Rai, Purushottam Singh, Faiz, Nitish Singh, Vinay Yadav, Ramesh Ram, Hirendra Mishra, Sudhanshu, Amarjeet, Azad Chand, Shantanu, Shashank Monu, and Vicky, were among the hundreds present at various protest sites.
The bandh has significantly impacted transportation, with train services disrupted and buses halted. Protesters maintain that the BPSC examination must be canceled to ensure justice for students, vowing to sustain their movement until their demands are met.
