Patna: In response to rising inflation and complaints of profiteering in the market, the government has released a new price list of 54 daily-use essential items to provide relief to common consumers. The list includes household staples such as butter, ghee, cheese, biscuits, chocolates, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and dairy products. Both old and revised prices have been specified so that buyers can pay the right amount while shopping.
According to the list, the price of butter (500 gm) has been reduced from ₹305 to ₹286.7. Similarly, cheese (Kraft Original, 1000 gm) has been lowered from ₹630 to ₹604.8. One of the most commonly purchased items, ghee (Amul, 1 kg), will now be available at ₹611 instead of ₹650.
Among other dairy products, tomato ketchup (1.1 kg) has dropped from ₹150 to ₹141, while jam (Kissan, 500 gm) has been reduced from ₹200 to ₹188.
Popular among children and youngsters, snacks and biscuits have also seen a price cut:
The government has also revised the prices of personal care products:
The new list also includes reductions in prices of sweets and ice creams:
To address everyday consumer needs, bottled water (1 liter) has also become cheaper, dropping from ₹15 to ₹14.
The price list clearly states that these revised rates are mandatory for shopkeepers. If any retailer charges more than the fixed rate, consumers can file complaints with the concerned department.
The primary aim of this initiative is to provide inflation relief to consumers and ensure strict price control in the market. The government wants every consumer to have access to quality products at fair and transparent prices.
With this new price list, it is expected that the festive season will bring some respite to households struggling with inflation. Middle-class families, whose budgets are often stretched due to rising prices of groceries and daily-use items, are likely to benefit the most.
Overall, the release of this updated price list of 54 essential commodities is a major step in protecting consumer rights. It will not only provide relief to the general public but also keep retailers in check against overpricing. Consumers are encouraged to use this price list while shopping and safeguard their rights.
