Patna Women’s College’s WE-PWC Gender Cell successfully concluded its International Women’s Day celebrations with a grand Valedictory Ceremony held on March 8, 2025. Themed “Gender Justice,” the event reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting an inclusive society where individuals of all genders enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
As part of Ojaswini 2025, the Sahas Award Ceremony was organized by the Patna Women’s College Alumni Association to honor individuals who have made remarkable contributions to society and the upliftment of marginalized groups. This year’s awardees included:
The event commenced with a melodious song celebrating the strength of women, followed by a thematic dance performance addressing gender biases. The Sahas awardees were then felicitated and shared their inspiring insights.
Father Dr. Prakash Louis S.J. emphasized the role of education in challenging social norms to achieve true gender equality. Mrs. Usha Jha highlighted financial independence as a key factor in empowering women. Ms. Rani Tiwari advocated for broader inclusivity and equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender identity.
The ceremony also recognized the winners of various competitions, who were presented with awards and certificates. A screening of the Oscar-nominated film ‘Anuja’, which portrays themes of child labor, education, and poverty, captivated the audience and added depth to the event’s theme.
The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the Department of History; Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, along with active support from members of the WE-PWC Gender Cell.
The program was skillfully moderated by Shrishti Tiwari, Premier, Student Council 2024-25, and Mariyum Fatima, Vice Premier, Student Council 2024-25. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Varsha Shankar, Joint General Secretary, Student Council 2024-25.
The event concluded on a high note, leaving attendees inspired by the powerful messages of equality, empowerment, and inclusivity.
