Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University organized a Plantation Drive Program
“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” on August 22, 2024 in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment,
Forest and Climate Change, Bihar. The esteemed guests for the event were Shmt. Leena
Nandan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of
India; Shmt. Bandana Priyashi, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate
Change, Government of Bihar; Shri A.N. Jawahar Babu, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of
Forest; Shri P.K. Gupta, IFS, Principal, Chief Conservator of Forest; Shri Arvinder Singh, IFS,
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest; and Shri Gaurav Ojha, DFO, Patna Bihar. The
event started with welcoming the honourable guests by presenting SRISHTI Anthem by the
students of SRISHTI Environment club. After this, Shmt. Bandana Priyashi addressed the
gathering and highlighted the work done by Ministry to promote sustainable development and
also talked about the green budget, low carbon pathways in Bihar, pollution monitoring, wetland
conservation and conservation of endangered species. Soon after this, Shmt. Leena Nandan,
an Alumni of Patna Women’s College addressed the arena and shared her memories down the
lane, back in her college days. She appreciated the efforts that PWC Family takes to conserve
environment through it’s two active Environment clubs. She shared about the Hackathon:
Ideas4Life that the Ministry is conducting and encouraged the young minds to participate in that.
Then, everyone proceeded towards the main garden in the college for plantation drive. Shmt.
Leena Nandan planted a tree in memories of her beloved Mother
. Plants saplings that were
planted included Mahogany, Arjun and Mango.
The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Department of
Zoology. The event was well organized under the guidance of Dr. Amrita Chowdhury, IQAC
Coordinator and Head, Department of Geography; Dr. Shobha Shrivastava, Vice-President,
ECO Task Force and Head, Department of Zoology and Ms. Meenakshi Mishra, Assistant
Professor, Department of Geography. The event was moderated by Khushi Kumari, Jt.
Environment and Discipline Secretary, Student Council 2024-25. The Vote of Thanks was
proposed by Mr. Gaurav Ojha, DFO, Patna, Bihar. The event was attended by the students of
ECO Task Force and SRISHTI Environment Club.
