Patna, October 22, 2024: A workshop focused on the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana was organized today by the Bihar State Health Society at the auditorium of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. The event saw active participation from the Director, Medical Superintendent, Ayushman Nodal Officer, department heads, and doctors of IGIMS.
On the occasion, Shashank Shekhar Sinha, Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Health Society, urged department heads and doctors to ensure that under both Ayushman Bharat and the state’s health scheme, needy beneficiaries receive quality, free treatment seamlessly. He emphasized that no eligible beneficiary should have to bear out-of-pocket expenses during their treatment.
The team from Bihar State Health Society provided detailed training and information on various aspects such as the Health Benefit Package, Standard Treatment Guidelines, Unspecified Packages, Out-of-Pocket Expenses, and the reservation policy under the Health Benefit Package. Challenges related to the procedural aspects of implementing the schemes at IGIMS were also discussed, with solutions proposed.
Dr. Binde, Director of IGIMS, stressed the importance of resolving procedural barriers to provide effective care under the scheme and suggested future coordination meetings between the institutions.
Among those present were Dr. Binde, Director, IGIMS; Manish Mandal, Medical Superintendent, IGIMS; Dr. Jiut Ram Kesari, Ayushman Nodal Officer, IGIMS; Shailesh Chandra Diwakar, Administrative Officer, Bihar State Health Society; Dr. Alok Ranjan, Director of Operations, Bihar State Health Society; and senior officials and department heads from IGIMS.
As of now, Bihar State Health Society has issued Ayushman cards to over 1.5 crore families and 3.57 crore individuals. A total of 1,021 hospitals have been empaneled, and nearly 13.95 lakh hospital admissions have taken place under the scheme. Efforts are ongoing to expand the network of empaneled hospitals.
