An interactivesession with the actors @PWC

The department of Mass Communication, Patna Women’s College organized ‘An interactive
session with the actors’ on January 5, 2024 in the Carmel Hall of the college with Shool fame
actor Vineet Kumar, Balika Vadhu’s ‘Bapu Sa’ Satyajit Sharma and Kannada film actress
Virginia Rodrigues. The session began with the welcome address by the Cultural Secretary of the student’s Student’s Council, Shailja Jha which was followed by the introduction of the esteemed guests by the head of the department, Mass Communication, Ms. Roma.
On this occasion the Founder of the House of Variety, Suman Sinha, former director and owner
of Regent Theatres was also present who addressed the students and evoked the importance of art and culture in one’s life in them. He said that he has envisioned House of Variety as an
inclusive and empowering space where individuals can learn, grow both as artists and
individuals, and contribute to the cultural tapestry of our society. He told the students about the recently inaugurated House of Variety which has been made to give a wholesome exposure of the world of art and culture to the young actors.

The session continued with the interactive session between the guests and the students. The
students asked various questions from the field of theatre, cinema and life to which the guests
answered patiently. Speaking to the students’ Vineet Kumar shared his journey and inspired
students to listen to their calling. He said that acting should not be pursued to fulfill the worldly pleasures but out of one’s will and desire. Talking about cinema he said that cinema does not have borders, every film is universal. Films in South India are so popular because they tell their own stories rather than making strategies, he added. Satyajit Sharma also interacted with the students and answered their questions with great zeal. He encouraged the students to pave their way with hard work and not indulge in false debates like nepotism. Narratives should not be given much heed; one should focus on one’s work instead, he added. Virginia Rodrigues got nostalgic while interacting with the students and remembered her days at St. Agnes College at Mangalore. She said that women should create their own space rather than depending on others to give them priority. There are hurdles everywhere, one should focus on their destination; recognition will follow.
The guests also shared the technicalities of theatre with the students and explained them about
the linguistics and process of theatre with them. The session was attended by the students of
