Chief Minister inaugurated 214 projects , including PMCH redevelopment project

Chief Minister inaugurated 214 projects of Bihar, including newly constructed buildings, under the first phase of the PMCH redevelopment project at a cost of 903.57 crores. He also laid the foundation stones for 17 projects. In today’s program, in addition to the PMCH redevelopment project, the Chief Minister unveiled and inaugurated 408.68 crores worth of projects, including 211 projects across the state and laying the foundation for 16 projects.

During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the external patient department (OPD) in the newly constructed building under phase 1 of the Patna Medical College and Hospital redevelopment project and inspected various parts of the new building. Subsequently, he inaugurated the hostel building with 550 beds under phase 1 and inspected the newly constructed hostel building, gathering information about its facilities. Additionally, he inaugurated the multi-story parking building for PMCH. The Chief Minister inspected the facilities there and later visited the emergency ward of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology to review its arrangements.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for the 132/33 KV Green GIS Grid Substation in the PMCH premises. The construction work for the second phase of the Patna Medical College and Hospital redevelopment project will commence in March 2024, with the third phase to follow shortly, aiming to complete the redevelopment project swiftly. The Patna Medical College and Hospital, being a prestigious healthcare institution of the state, is being transformed into a 5462-bed hospital under the directives of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, with an estimated cost of around 5540 crores. Provision for a helipad has been made on the hospital building’s roof for air ambulances, aiming to develop it as the largest hospital in the country.

The PMCH redevelopment project aims to equip PMCH with modern medical facilities. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, significant improvements have been made in the health sector since the government came into power in 2005. Free medicines are being provided to patients in government hospitals, and better treatment arrangements have increased public trust in government hospitals.

Expansions and developments are underway in hospitals like IGIMS Patna, SKMCH Muzaffarpur, ANMCH Gaya, and DMCH Darbhanga. Moreover, all additional primary health centers (APHCs) are being developed into Health and Wellness Centers. Government medical colleges and hospitals are being established in many districts of Bihar to ensure that people do not have to travel outside their cities for treatment. Continuous efforts are being made by the state government to provide better healthcare facilities to the people
