Khan Sir’s Criticism: “First, the GDP fell, then bridges in Bihar collapsed, and now BPSC has fallen

Patna, December 27, 2024: The protest by aspirants demanding the cancellation and re-examination of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam continues to intensify. For the past nine days, hundreds of students have been staging a sit-in at Gardanibagh in Patna. On Friday, prominent educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, along with fellow educator Guru Rahman, joined the protest in solidarity with the students and demanded the cancellation of the exam and the conduct of a fresh one.

Khan Sir’s Criticism: “First, the GDP fell, then bridges in Bihar collapsed, and now BPSC has fallen”

During the protest, Khan Sir took a sharp dig at the BPSC, saying, “First, the GDP of the country fell, then bridges in Bihar collapsed, and now BPSC has fallen.” He argued that given the irregularities in the exam, the commission should cancel the exam and conduct a fresh one. He further suggested that the re-examination should be conducted under CCTV surveillance to ensure transparency and prevent any malpractice.

Appeal for Peace

Khan Sir appealed to the protesting aspirants to maintain peace during their agitation. “Everyone wants a re-examination, but we must ensure that our protest remains peaceful,” he said. Khan Sir also joined the students in raising slogans against BPSC and vowed to support their cause.

Allegations of “Hijacking” the Protest

However, the protest took a dramatic turn on Friday when students accused Khan Sir and Guru Rahman of “hijacking” their movement. The students alleged that both educators had diverted the focus of the protest from the students’ issues to their political agendas.

Initially, the participation of these educators was seen as a boost to the protest, as their involvement helped highlight the students’ demands before the government. However, the students now claim that Khan Sir and Guru Rahman have used the platform for their personal interests, turning the protest into a political campaign. Several students demanded that the two educators step down from the stage, accusing them of diverting attention from the core issue.

Renewed Demand for Re-Examination

On the 10th day of the protest, Khan Sir and Guru Rahman reiterated their demand for a re-examination. Speaking at the protest site, Khan Sir said, “We are demanding a re-examination under CCTV surveillance to prevent any irregularities. There is no reason to fear CCTV if the process is transparent.”

He added, “Earlier, we were simply demanding a re-examination, but now we insist that it should be conducted under the strict supervision of CCTV cameras. This will ensure fairness and eliminate any scope for malpractice.”

Students’ Frustration with BPSC

The protesting students have accused the BPSC of numerous irregularities, including allegations of a paper leak, in the 70th exam. They argue that such issues have jeopardized the future of hundreds of aspirants. “We will not end our protest until the government and the commission take concrete steps to address our concerns,” said one of the protesters.

At Gardanibagh, students expressed their anguish, saying, “Our future is at stake. This is not just about one exam; it’s about our careers and the hard work we have put in.”

Mounting Pressure on Government and BPSC

The growing intensity of the protest has increased pressure on both the state government and the BPSC. The students are demanding immediate intervention from the authorities to cancel the exam and announce a fresh one.

The prolonged agitation has also brought attention to systemic flaws in Bihar’s recruitment and examination processes. Students argue that the recurring issues highlight the urgent need for reforms in the state’s examination systems to ensure accountability and transparency.

The Role of Educators

While the involvement of Khan Sir and Guru Rahman initially added momentum to the protest, the accusations against them have created divisions among the protesters. Some students believe their presence has diverted attention from the primary demands, while others view their participation as crucial in drawing public and media attention to the issue.

The ongoing protest at Gardanibagh sheds light on the shortcomings in Bihar’s education and recruitment systems. The active participation of educators like Khan Sir and Guru Rahman has brought the issue to the forefront but has also led to controversies regarding the movement’s direction. It remains to be seen how the government and BPSC respond to the demands of the protesting students and whether their call for a re-examination is addressed. Until then, the students vow to continue their fight for justice.
