IIT Patna Teams Secure Top Two Positions in NTPC Electron Quiz 2026-27

PATNA, Bihar: Teams from the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) dominated the Patna regional round of the prestigious NTPC Electron Quiz 2026-27, securing both the first and second positions at a competition held at the Urja Auditorium in Patna on Tuesday.

The IIT Patna team comprising Heet J. Joshi and Shivanshu S. Das emerged as the winners, while Joven S. Painadath and Abhiram Paripadi, also representing IIT Patna, finished second.

The third position was secured by Roshan and Gaurav from the Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna.

According to NTPC Deputy General Manager (Corporate Communications) Vishwanath Chandan, more than 300 teams, each comprising two students, from leading engineering and management institutions across Bihar participated in the Patna regional round of the NTPC Electron Quiz.

Students from institutions including IIT Patna, Chandragupt Institute of Management–Patna, Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, Bakhtiyarpur College of Engineering, and Government Engineering College–Aurangabad took part in the competition.

The event began with a written preliminary round, following which six teams qualified for the high-energy audio-visual final. Besides the two IIT Patna teams, the finalists included teams from Chandragupt Institute of Management–Patna, Sitamarhi Institute of Technology, Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, and Government Engineering College–Aurangabad.

The final round was conducted by renowned Delhi-based quizmaster Gautam Bose.

With their strong performance, the top two teams from the IIT Patna-led Patna regional round have qualified for the semi-final and national final of the NTPC Electron Quiz 2026-27. The next stages will be held on October 7 and 8, 2026, at NTPC Power Management Institute (PMI), Noida.

NTPC General Manager (Human Resources) Wilson Abraham presented cash prizes of Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 to the first, second and third-place teams respectively. Consolation prizes were also awarded to the other finalist teams.

Addressing the gathering, Abraham said the NTPC Electron Quiz provides young talent with an effective platform to demonstrate knowledge, creativity and quick decision-making skills. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and said encouraging young talent remains an important part of NTPC’s commitment to nation-building.

The NTPC Electron Quiz is among the company’s major youth engagement initiatives, aimed at promoting knowledge, curiosity, healthy competition and intellectual excellence among young people across India.

The impressive showing by IIT Patna teams in the Patna regional round further highlighted the institute’s strong presence in academic competitions and knowledge-based events.
