Patna, March 4, 2025 – The Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, Patna, hosted the ‘Kala Mangal Exhibition-cum-Lecture Series,’ featuring a group exhibition of 31 young contemporary artists from the state. The event took place in the Academy’s Art Gallery.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Rachna Patil, Director, Museum Directorate, Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Bihar. She also released the exhibition catalogue and felicitated the participating artists with flower bouquets. In her address, she praised the exhibition’s quality and highlighted the participation of 12 sculptors and 19 artists specializing in graphics and painting.
Each participating artist showcased three artworks. Notable exhibits included Pallavi’s woodcut, Smita Kumari’s ‘Spiritual Spirit,’ Neha Kumari’s ‘Samudra Manthan’ and ‘Ganga,’ Sonam Kumari’s ‘Archaeological Study’ and ‘Unity,’ Neelam’s ‘Still Life,’ and sculptor Gaurav Kumar’s ‘Lakshmi Narayan,’ ‘Male and Female,’ and ‘Devotion.’
Other featured artists included Rakhi Kumari (‘Ganesha,’ ‘Wild Search: The Spirit of Freedom’), Shiva D (‘Cosmic Reader’), Ranjan Kumar (‘Selfie with Friends,’ ‘Indian Mother’), Sultana Praveen (‘Forgotten Face I & II’), Ramakant (‘Rest III,’ ‘Society’), Jeevit Raj (‘Guide,’ ‘Interval’), Rajnish Kumar (‘Depression,’ ‘Sold Monkey’), Aishwarya Sharaf (‘Valid Vortex,’ ‘Valiant Vanguard,’ ‘Vique Valued Vault’), Sumit Kumar (‘Overload,’ ‘Buddha,’ ‘Education’), Nikhil Dayal (Untitled), Pratima Kumari (‘Freedom,’ Untitled), Chandan Kumar (Untitled), Abhishek Kumar (‘Plyan,’ ‘Kesaria Stupa,’ ‘Feticide’), Vivek Kumar (‘Moment,’ ‘Portrait’), Vikash Kumar (‘Journey of Life,’ Untitled), Himanshu Manne (‘Epidemic,’ ‘Meditation & Yoga for Life,’ ‘Global Warming’), Harsh Madhav (‘My Brain: The State,’ ‘Foundation within Foundation’), Sini Sisodia (‘Jungle Herbs’), Tanmay Anand (‘Manjusha I & II’), Sanjeev Kumar (‘Nature,’ ‘Mother Nature & Child Nature’), Reena Singh (‘Evening,’ ‘Morning,’ ‘Cityscape’), Narendra Kumar (‘Drop of Life,’ ‘Ball Pen’), Som Kumar (‘Transformation I & II’), Vishendra Narayan Singh (‘Ram Lalla,’ ‘Lotus’), and Kaushalesh Kumar (‘Heart to Hardware I & II’).
A total of 24 sculptures and 50 paintings and graphic artworks were on display, attracting significant public interest. Visitors appreciated the efforts of the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Bihar, along with the Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, for providing a platform to the state’s artists. The initiative aimed to foster the growth and recognition of art and artists in Bihar.
The event was attended by Amrita Pritam, Academy Secretary and Special Duty Officer, Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Bihar, along with Program Coordinator Padma Shri Shyam Sharma and Co-Coordinators Birendra Kumar Singh, Manoj Kumar Bachchan, and Awadhesh Aman. Other distinguished guests included Rajat Ghosh, Ashok Tiwari, Yogendra Singh Gambhir, Shailendra Kumar, Archana Sinha, Vinod Gupta, Jitendra Mohan, Mazhar Ilahi, Sunil Kumar, Satya Sarth, Manoj Kumar Sahni, Smita Parashar, Sadhana Devi, Devpujan Kumar, Omkar Nath, Vijay Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Kumari Shilpi Rani, and several senior artists and art critics.
The exhibition successfully highlighted the vibrant contemporary art scene in Bihar, providing a valuable platform for emerging talent in the region.
