  1. In 2023, the state witnessed the lowest murder rate per million population over the past 24 years.
  2. Apart from the COVID-19 year of 2021, 2023 saw the fewest murder cases reported in the last six years (2018-2023).
  3. Despite the state’s population increasing from 83 million to 130.7 million over the past 24 years, 2023 recorded the fourth-lowest number of murder cases during this period.
