Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid a courtesy visit to the Raj Bhavan this morning, where he met both the newly appointed Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammed Khan, and the outgoing Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The CM extended his congratulations to both leaders on their new roles and also bid a formal farewell to the outgoing Governor.
Nitish Kumar expressed his gratitude to Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for his service to Bihar and conveyed his best wishes for his new assignment as the Governor of Kerala. He also warmly welcomed Arif Mohammed Khan to Bihar and congratulated him on his appointment as the state’s new Governor.
Arif Mohammed Khan, the former Governor of Kerala, has now been appointed as the Governor of Bihar. Khan, who served as Kerala’s Governor since September 6, 2019, arrived in Patna on Sunday night to take up his new responsibilities. Known for his administrative acumen and extensive political career, Khan brings a wealth of experience to Bihar.
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who has been serving as Bihar’s 41st Governor since February 2023, has now been appointed as the Governor of Kerala. Originally from Goa, Arlekar has had a distinguished career in public service. Before his tenure in Bihar, he served as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh from July 2021.
A seasoned politician, Arlekar has been a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as a BJP MLA in Goa from 2002 to 2007 and was the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2015. During his tenure as Speaker, Arlekar played a key role in making the Goa Assembly paperless, a significant step towards modernizing legislative processes.
As he departs for Kerala, Arlekar leaves behind a legacy of dedication and effective governance in Bihar. He is set to take up his new responsibilities in Kerala immediately after the formal farewell ceremony in Patna.
This leadership transition marks an important moment for both Bihar and Kerala. While Arif Mohammed Khan’s tenure as Bihar’s new Governor is awaited with anticipation, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s departure to Kerala reflects his continued commitment to public service in a new state.
The exchange of responsibilities between the two leaders demonstrates the dynamic nature of governance in India. Both Governors bring a diverse range of experience to their respective states, promising continuity and fresh perspectives in their roles.
Arif Mohammed Khan has been a prominent political figure and administrator, with a career spanning decades. His new role in Bihar is expected to further strengthen the state’s administrative and political landscape.
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, born on April 23, 1954, in Goa, has consistently worked for the betterment of the states he has served. His contributions as Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Bihar highlight his commitment to progressive governance.
As Bihar welcomes a new Governor and bids farewell to its outgoing one, the state looks forward to continued growth and stability under the leadership of Arif Mohammed Khan. Meanwhile, Kerala anticipates a seamless transition under the guidance of Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
