CM Nitish Kumar Participates Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Mahadalit Tola

Patna, August 15, 2024: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in the flag hoisting ceremony at a Mahadalit Tola. The event took place at Lakhnibigha Mahadalit Tola, located in the Lakhnibigha Panchayat of Danapur Block in Patna District. The flag was hoisted by the local elder, Shri Ramashish Ram, in the presence of the Chief Minister. During the ceremony, local leaders and representatives welcomed the Chief Minister with a large garland of flowers and a commemorative memento.

While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of Bihar on the auspicious occasion of the 78th Independence Day. He mentioned that the main flag hoisting ceremony was held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, after which he joined the flag hoisting program here at Lakhnibigha Mahadalit Tola. He expressed his happiness that Shri Ramashish Ram, the oldest resident of this Mahadalit Tola, had hoisted the flag today. He further stated that since August 15, 2011, flag hoisting ceremonies have been initiated in all Mahadalit Tolas of the state on Independence Day, and since 2012, this tradition has also been observed on Republic Day.

The Chief Minister highlighted that during these ceremonies, the flag is hoisted by the oldest member of the Mahadalit community in the Tola. Every year, the program is organized at a different location within Patna District, and he has continued to participate in these events. The flag hoisting ceremony is attended by the district’s in-charge minister, district officials, police superintendents, and other senior officials at various Mahadalit Tolas. On this significant occasion, local residents are informed about the various welfare schemes being implemented by the state government. The Chief Minister expressed his happiness at being able to join the community on this occasion.

The Chief Minister mentioned that many development works have been carried out in Lakhnibigha, and the government has decided to fulfill all the demands made by the local residents. He announced that land has been identified for the construction of a community hall at a cost of ₹36 lakh. Additionally, a building for the Gram Sangathan (village organization) will be constructed at a cost of ₹15 lakh, and an Anganwadi center will be built at a cost of ₹10 lakh in Lakhnibigha Panchayat.

He further announced the construction of a drainage system at a cost of ₹50 lakh to address the waterlogging issue in the area. The Chief Minister expressed his hope for continued mutual harmony and brotherhood in society, ensuring that Bihar remains on the path of progress. He urged everyone to contribute to the development of Bihar and assured that the government is working towards the development of all regions and the progress of all people. He emphasized that they respect everyone and urged the community to live together in harmony. The Chief Minister also expressed hope that today’s flag hoisting by Shri Ramashish Ram would be remembered by everyone.

On this auspicious occasion, the Chief Minister distributed benefits under various welfare schemes. This included the distribution of symbolic checks worth ₹17.01 lakh to 37 beneficiaries under the Continuous Livelihood Scheme, and symbolic checks worth ₹1.65 crore to beneficiaries of 121 self-help groups under the Self-Employment Scheme. The Chief Minister also distributed appointment letters under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, to the dependents of the deceased breadwinners in these families, as well as approval letters to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.

Additionally, the Chief Minister distributed symbolic checks under the “Economic Assistance, Youth Empowerment” program of the Seven Resolves Scheme, including student credit cards/approvals for beneficiaries of the Skilled Youth Program, Ayushman Cards to six beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Public Health Scheme, and symbolic checks to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme, Chief Minister’s Rural Support Scheme, and Chief Minister’s Girl Child Empowerment Scheme.

The event was attended by prominent personalities including MLC Shri Ravindra Kumar Singh, former MLA Shri Arun Manjhi, former MLA Mrs. Asha Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Anupam Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Kumar Ravi, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Shri Gopal Singh, IG Patna Range Mrs. Garima Malik, District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Rajeev Mishra, along with other dignitaries, senior officials, and a large number of local residents.
