Patna, February 26, 2025 – A grand cultural evening was organized today at Gyan Bhawan, Patna, under the joint auspices of the Bihar Government’s Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Indian Dance Art Temple, Patna, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The event featured mesmerizing dance performances by renowned artists from Fiji, captivating the audience with their enthralling presentations. The highlight of the evening was an exceptional performance by the internationally acclaimed ‘Shobhana Channel Dance Group,’ which left the spectators spellbound.
The cultural event was inaugurated by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Art, Culture, and Youth, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha. In his address, he emphasized the significance of such cultural exchanges in fostering stronger international ties and preserving traditional art forms. He remarked, “Cultural events like these not only promote cross-border artistic exchanges but also help in giving our rich traditions and heritage a global platform. We are the custodians of our culture; we nurture, enhance, and pass it down to future generations. Expressing emotions through art is what defines culture. The values we instill in our next generation become an integral part of our cultural legacy.”
Referring to the deep-rooted influence of Indian traditions in Fiji, he said, “It is a matter of great pride that Indian culture has been preserved so well in a nation like Fiji. This speaks volumes about the strength and resilience of our cultural heritage.” Acknowledging the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, he added, “On this sacred day, those who respect and uphold culture and creation are blessed by Lord Shiva.”
The Secretary of the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Shri Pranav Kumar, also addressed the audience, underscoring the importance of cultural interactions in enriching our heritage. “Cultural exchange is essential for preserving and expanding our artistic legacy. Music and dance have always played a crucial role in carrying forward traditions. Today’s performances on Maha Shivaratri hold special significance, and under the guidance of our esteemed minister, the department is making remarkable progress and will continue to do so in the future.”
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the performance of the ‘Bihar Gaurav Gaan’ and ‘Shiv Tandav,’ which left the audience deeply moved. These stunning presentations by Bihar’s artists and dance troupes beautifully reflected the state’s rich cultural heritage.
The grand event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Regional Passport Officer Swadha Rizvi, Under-Secretary of the Department Shri Anil Kumar Sinha, Administrative Officer of the Indian Dance Art Temple, Kahkashan, along with numerous government officials, art enthusiasts, and esteemed guests.
The cultural evening was a resounding success, celebrating the vibrant and deep-rooted artistic traditions of both India and Fiji. It not only strengthened the bonds of international friendship but also showcased the artistic brilliance of performers dedicated to preserving and promoting their heritage on a global stage.
