Patna: Bihar witnessed a significant administrative reshuffle as the state government issued transfer orders for four IAS officers. This latest reshuffle has brought new leadership to several key departments, with notable changes in the Patna Commissionerate and other critical positions.
In a major move, Kumar Ravi, who was serving as the Commissioner of Patna, has been transferred to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He will now serve in the Secretariat until further orders. His role as Commissioner of Patna will be filled by Mayank Varwade, who has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Patna. Prior to this, Varwade was serving as the Commissioner of Magadh Division.
The reshuffle also saw Pankaj Kumar Pal, a 2002-batch IAS officer, being entrusted with the crucial responsibility of heading the Energy Department. In addition to his role as Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Pal has been given the additional charge of the Bihar State Power Holding Company. This position was previously held by IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, who has been relieved of his duties following allegations of corruption and sexual harassment. Hans has been recalled to the General Administration Department, marking a significant change in the state’s energy sector leadership.
Another key change in the reshuffle is the appointment of Vandana Preyashi as the Secretary of the Industries Department. Preyashi, a 2003-batch IAS officer, has also been given the additional charge of the Infrastructure Development Authority (IDDA). Her new role is expected to be pivotal in driving industrial and infrastructural growth in Bihar, as the state continues to focus on economic development and modernization.
In a related development, the 1993-batch IAS officer Sandeep Poundrik has been sent on central deputation. Poundrik, who has held several senior positions in various departments, including the Energy Department, has now been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Steel. His departure from the state administration marks the end of a long tenure in Bihar, where he served in key roles, contributing significantly to the state’s governance and development.
The reshuffle also included the transfer of Tyagrajan S.M., who has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Magadh Division, replacing Mayank Varwade. Tyagrajan was previously serving as the District Magistrate of Gaya. His appointment as Commissioner of Magadh Division comes at a time when the region is experiencing rapid growth and development, requiring experienced leadership to manage the challenges that come with it.
The General Administration Department issued a notification regarding these changes, indicating the government’s intent to streamline and strengthen the administrative machinery across various departments. The reshuffle is seen as a strategic move to ensure effective governance and to address the evolving needs of the state.
Kumar Ravi’s transfer to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat is particularly noteworthy, as it reflects the government’s trust in his capabilities to handle sensitive and high-profile assignments. In addition to his new role, he will continue to hold the additional charge of Secretary of the Bihar State Building Construction Corporation, a position he has managed effectively in the past.
Pankaj Kumar Pal’s appointment as the head of the Energy Department comes at a critical time when Bihar is focusing on improving its power infrastructure and ensuring reliable electricity supply across the state. His experience in rural development is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the energy sector, particularly in enhancing the reach and efficiency of power distribution in rural areas.
Vandana Preyashi’s dual role in the Industries Department and the Infrastructure Development Authority positions her as a key figure in the state’s economic strategy. Her leadership will be crucial in driving industrial growth and ensuring that infrastructure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Overall, this reshuffle underscores the Bihar government’s commitment to ensuring dynamic and efficient administration. By placing experienced and capable officers in key positions, the state aims to address challenges, improve service delivery, and accelerate development across various sectors. The impact of these changes will be closely watched as the newly appointed officers take on their roles in steering Bihar towards progress and prosperity.
