Patna Women’s College Celebrates Teacher’s Day with a Retro vs Metro Theme

Patna, September 5, 2024: Patna Women’s College, an autonomous institution under Patna University, organized a grand celebration to honor Teacher’s Day with the theme “Retro vs Metro.” The event paid homage to educators and highlighted the timeless bond between teachers and students through a vibrant blend of performances, games, and heartfelt tributes.

The celebration began with a tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is marked as Teacher’s Day across India. The event started with a graceful Guru Vandana dance performance set to the song “Gurave Namah,” a traditional homage to teachers, creating a serene and reverential atmosphere. Following this, a soulful song performed by student sisters added a sentimental note, setting the tone for the event.

One of the main highlights of the celebration was a series of fun and engaging games specially arranged for the teachers. Games like “Sign Storm,” “Quizzy Buzzy,” and “Surprise Symphony” kept the teachers entertained and delighted, bringing excitement and joy to all participants. The students organized these interactive games to show appreciation for their mentors in a fun and light-hearted manner.

Next, the students showcased their artistic talents through self-composed poems, offering a personal touch to the occasion. A musical dedication, performed by a group of students, honored both teaching and non-teaching staff members, further underlining the respect and admiration the students hold for their educators.

A thematic dance drama titled “Khatta-Meetha Nazrana” became the centerpiece of the day’s festivities. The performance captured the sweet and sour essence of the teacher-student relationship, charming the audience with its emotional depth and relatable narrative. The event also included a dynamic “Council Dance” performance, which illustrated the evolution of Bollywood through the decades, blending retro styles with contemporary moves. The energetic performance left the audience thoroughly entertained and added a vibrant cultural flair to the celebration.

In a surprise twist, the teachers took to the stage and performed a melodious qawwali, adding a playful touch to the event. The performance symbolized the humorous and lighthearted exchanges between teachers and students, showcasing the warmth and camaraderie that defines college life. The teachers’ qawwali was a delightful surprise and received loud applause from the audience.

Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice-Principal of Patna Women’s College, delivered an inspiring address to the gathering. In her speech, she praised the teachers for their dedication and contributions, referring to them as the “Architects of Dreams” who shape the future of students with their wisdom and guidance. Her words resonated deeply with both students and teachers, emphasizing the vital role that educators play in society.

The event was hosted by students Mahrukh Firdaus, Arshi Khan, and Aleena, while the entire celebration was organized by the Student Council 2024-25. The event was meticulously coordinated under the guidance of the cultural coordinators: Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the History Department; Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Samridhi Kashyap, Sports Secretary of the Student Council. The celebration was a beautiful reflection of the gratitude and respect that students hold for their teachers, and it showcased the vibrant cultural ethos of Patna Women’s College
