Patna Women’s College organized a Workshop on “Renaissance in India and the role of Indian Cultural Values

Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, successfully organized a two-day
Lecture-cum-Workshop on the theme “Renaissance in India and the role of Indian Cultural
Values” on February 5-6, 2025. The event was sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical
Research (ICPR), New Delhi. The inaugural session of the workshop began with the lighting of
the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Ameeta Jaiswal, Head, Department of
Philosophy. Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal, Patna Women’s College, addressed the
gathering, emphasizing the need for Renaissance in the present perspective. The first day of the

workshop featured lectures by eminent speakers, including Dr. Abha Singh, Professor & Head
(Retired), P.G. Department of Philosophy, Patliputra University, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar
Singh, Dean Humanities & Head, P.G. Department of Philosophy, Patna University. Dr. Abha
Singh focused on the theme of the workshop, while Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Singh elaborated
on “The Ethos of Lord Rama for the Contemporary Indian Society.” The second day of the
workshop featured lectures by Dr. Shyamal Kishore, Controller of Examination, Patna
University & Former Head, P.G. Department of Philosophy, Patliputra University, and Swami
Bhavatmananda, Secretary, Ramkrishna Mission, Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

Dr. Shyamal Kishore
spoke on “Erosion of Moral values embedded in Indian Society: A Gandhian Panacea,” while
Swami Bhavatmananda elaborated on “Swami Vivekananda for Nation Building.” Over 100
students from various colleges and universities in Bihar participated in the Essay and Quiz
Competitions organized as part of the workshop. The Essay Competition was won by Avdhesh
Kumar, Sweta Rani, and Palak Kumari, while the Quiz Competition was won by Suhani Kumari,
Nikita Arya, and Utsav Roy. The two-day Lecture-cum-Workshop was a grand success, with
participants from various universities across Bihar. The workshop provided a platform for
students and scholars to engage in meaningful discussions and debates on the theme, and to
explore the significance of Indian cultural values in the present context.
