Regional languages poems make their mark at poetry competition at Patna Women’s College

Poems recited by students in Maithili, Bhojpuri, Urdu, Hindi and English enthralled the audience
at an inter-department poetry competition on Thursday. The competition was organised by the
Department of Communicative English and Media Studies of Patna Women’s College to mark
the World Poetry Day.
The poems expressed emotions of pain, aspirations, love for the country and state, struggle and
nature.

The Hindi and regional languages poems were judged by Mr. Prashant Ravi and English
poems were judged by Mr. Frank Krishner, both faculty members of the college.
In the Hindi category, Priti Kumari of the Department of Political Science and regional
languages category, Alshura Salbeel of Department of Botany, Divya Rani of Department of
B. Ed., Anjali Priya of Department of B. Ed. Won the first page. The same in the English category
went to Khushi Raj of the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies. The
second and third prizes in both the categories were shared by two or more students.
