Patna, July 2, 2025:
In a major step toward boosting tourism and enhancing visitor convenience, Bihar’s Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh launched the revamped official tourism website — www.tourism.bihar.gov.in — at the Directorate of Tourism auditorium in the main secretariat on Tuesday. Designed with new features and a user-friendly interface, the website offers comprehensive information on 165 major tourist destinations across the state, available in both Hindi and English.
The newly updated portal is aimed at tourists, researchers, and stakeholders in the tourism sector. It provides easy access to detailed insights about destinations, travel circuits, available facilities, and government-run tourism policies and schemes. A dedicated mobile application for the Bihar Tourism Department is also in development and will be released soon.
Speaking at the launch event, Minister Raju Kumar Singh highlighted the portal’s advanced features. A notable addition is the integration of the Geo-Visualizer (Geovisor), which visitors can download to get a virtual overview of the tourist sites and routes, helping them plan their travel more efficiently. “This will make it much easier for travelers to understand and access the various destinations,” he said.
The minister also announced that in the coming months, the portal will provide online access to application forms for various schemes including the Bihar Tourism Policy, Mukhyamantri Homestay Bed-to-Breakfast Incentive Scheme, and the recognition process for hotels and tour operators.
Tourism Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh added that the website would serve as an interactive platform where users can submit feedback and suggestions to help improve services and resources. This aligns with the department’s broader mission of involving the public in shaping a more tourist-friendly Bihar.
The website features in-depth content about Bihar’s key tourism circuits, including:
Each circuit includes the historical background, religious and cultural significance, and details of the amenities available at the respective destinations. This makes the website not only informative but also a practical travel-planning tool for both domestic and international visitors.
In addition to destination information, the website also showcases the department’s annual tourism events, allowing travelers to plan their trips in accordance with festivals and cultural programs. It also includes a curated list of recognized tourist guides, hotels, and tour operators, ensuring that visitors can access verified and professional services.
The newly launched platform is expected to significantly contribute to digital governance and smart tourism in Bihar, marking a forward-looking approach to preserving heritage while enhancing tourist engagement.
