Patna Women’s College Hosts Vigyan Utsav 2025

Patna, February 25, 2025: Patna Women’s College commenced Vigyan Utsav 2025, a three-
day science fest, from February 25 to 28, 2025. Themed “Empowering Indian Youth for Global
Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” the event aims to provide a dynamic
platform for students to showcase their scientific innovations and discoveries.
The inaugural program featured a welcome song, followed by a thought-provoking dance drama
titled “Mission India: Power of Science and Technology.” A special video highlighting the
academic progress of the Science Departments was also screened.

Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College, extended a warm welcome to
the guests and emphasized the crucial role of science education in societal progress. Dr.
Shobha Shrivastav, Convenor of Vigyan Utsav 2025 and Dean of the Faculty of Science,
provided an overview of the event, underscoring the significance of Science Day celebrations.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Surya Kant Verma, Vice Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University,
encouraged students to nurture curiosity and perseverance in scientific pursuits. Dr. Namita
Kumari, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Patna University and Principal of Magadh Mahila
College, Patna, attended as the Guest of Honor. She stressed the importance of critical thinking
and responsible citizenship in shaping future scientists.


A highlight of the event was the book release ceremony of “Vigyan Darpan,” an edited volume
comprising scientific research papers.
The entire event was moderated by Ms. Poonam Abraham Lakra, Head of the Department of
AI-ML and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Manisha Prasad, Head of the Department
of Computer Applications (BCA). Faculty members and students from the Science Departments
participated enthusiastically in the inaugural session.


Vigyan Utsav 2025 aims to foster a spirit of inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking among
students by providing opportunities to engage with renowned scientists, industry experts, and
peers, reinforcing India’s vision for scientific excellence and global leadership.

2025, the National Science Day celebration
EVENT 1
The Department of Microbiology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organized “Innovision:
Start-up Idea Presentation” under Vigyan Utsav 2025, focusing on the theme “Trash to
Resource.” The event encouraged students to develop innovative solutions for waste
management, promoting sustainability and entrepreneurship.
Participants presented their start-up ideas before a distinguished panel of judges, including Dr.
Soofia Fatima, Dr. Shazia Hussain, and Ms. Yosha Singh. Code no. 6 and code no. 3 from
Patna Women’s College secured the first and second prizes, while code no. 12 from Magadh
Mahila College won third place for their impactful ideas.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jaya Philip, with seamless coordination by
event in-charge Dr. Niti Yashvardhini, Dr. Preeti Swarupa, and Dr. Swetnisha.
EVENT 2
As part of Vigyan Utsav 2025, the Department of Statistics of Patna Women’s College
organized “Akshay Urja: A Nukkad Natak Competition” on “Environment and Energy: Towards
Balance”, jointly hosted by the Departments of Statistics and Physics.
Nine teams, including participants from Magadh Mahila College and St. Xavier’s College,
delivered compelling performances judged by Dr. Manjula Sushila, Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas,
and Dr. Priyanka.

The event, coordinated by Dr. Kavita Verma, Dr. Moon, Dr. Riekshika Sanwari, Ms. Nishtha
Bharadwaj, and Ms. Monika Rashmi, was a highlight of Vigyan Utsav, showcasing theatre’s
power in social awareness.
EVENT 3
Event Discovery Quest, an initiative to promote science storytelling, successfully concluded its
Sci-Story Telling Competition at Patna Women’s College. Themed “The Eureka Moments in
Science: Breakthroughs in Scientific Innovations,” the event featured 18 participants from
various institutions, showcasing their creativity in narrating scientific discoveries.

A distinguished jury—Prof. Ajit Kumar Singh, Prof. Shahla Yasmin, and Asst. Prof. Prabhat
Jha—evaluated compelling stories on topics such as microwave invention, CRISPR-Cas9, dark
matter, X-ray technology, and cardiac pacemakers.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Neetu, with Dr. Sapna Kumari as the in-charge, under the
supervision of Dr. Shobha Srivastava, Dean, Faculty of Science. The competition highlighted
the power of storytelling in making science engaging and accessible.
EVENT 4
The Department of Mathematics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organized a Logo
Designing Competition on the theme “Science and Technology for Environment and Sustainable
Development” as part of Vigyan Utsav 2025. The event, held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM,
witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departments of PWC and other colleges in
Patna.


The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Ravi Kumar, Head, Department of Mathematics, and
judged by Dr. Deepika Tiwari, Mr. Gautam Saurabh, and Mr. Adweetiya Sinha. Out of 47
registrations, 31 groups actively participated, presenting their creative logos and ideas through
PowerPoint. The event successfully fostered awareness and innovation in science, technology,
and sustainability.
The upcoming events to be conducted on Day 2 of Vigyan Utsav 2025 includes science
exhibitions on working models, mushroom products and delicacies , herbal products.
