Patna, April 9, 2025 — A powerful storm accompanied by heavy rains caused widespread destruction across several districts of Bihar on Tuesday. According to official figures, a total of 13 people lost their lives in the districts of Patna, Buxar, Jehanabad, Madhubani, and Lakhisarai.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and said that the state government stands firmly with the affected families. He stated, “It is tragic that several lives were lost due to this storm. I extend my heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families. The state government will provide every possible assistance to the victims.”
The Chief Minister has directed that an ex-gratia amount of ₹4 lakh be immediately provided to the families of each of the deceased.
According to the State Disaster Management Department, 5 people died in Patna, 4 in Buxar, 3 in Madhubani, and 1 in Lakhisarai.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that relief and rescue operations are carried out without any negligence. He also appealed to the public to remain cautious and follow all necessary precautions during bad weather.
Instructions have been given to the Disaster Management Department to ensure that warnings issued from time to time in affected areas are strictly followed and that relief materials are delivered to those in need on time.
The Chief Minister added, “People should stay indoors during adverse weather conditions and fully follow the advice given by the administration to prevent any loss of life.”
The state government has also put district administrations on high alert to ensure preparedness for any weather-related emergencies.
