New Price List of 54 Essential Items Released: Consumers Can Now Shop at Fair Prices
Patna: In response to rising inflation and complaints of profiteering in the market, the government has released a new price list of 54 daily-use essential items to provide relief to common consumers. The list includes household staples such as butter, ghee, cheese, biscuits, chocolates, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and dairy products. Both old and revised prices have been specified so that buyers can pay the right amount while shopping.
Relief in Food Prices
According to the list, the price of butter (500 gm) has been reduced from ₹305 to ₹286.7. Similarly, cheese (Kraft Original, 1000 gm) has been lowered from ₹630 to ₹604.8. One of the most commonly purchased items, ghee (Amul, 1 kg), will now be available at ₹611 instead of ₹650.
Among other dairy products, tomato ketchup (1.1 kg) has dropped from ₹150 to ₹141, while jam (Kissan, 500 gm) has been reduced from ₹200 to ₹188.

Biscuits and Snacks Become Cheaper
Popular among children and youngsters, snacks and biscuits have also seen a price cut:
- Biscuits (Parle, 800 gm): Reduced from ₹100 to ₹94
- Cornflakes (Kellogg’s, 275 gm): Reduced from ₹99 to ₹93
- Chocolate (Cadbury Dry Fruit, 60 gm): Reduced from ₹110 to ₹103.6
Cosmetics & Personal Care Products
The government has also revised the prices of personal care products:
- Hair Oil (100 ml): Reduced from ₹68 to ₹60.52
- Shampoo (175 ml): Reduced from ₹149 to ₹132.8
- Toothpaste (pack): Reduced from ₹149 to ₹132.39
- Face Powder (400 gm): Reduced from ₹370 to ₹329.3
Sweet Tooth Consumers Get Benefits
The new list also includes reductions in prices of sweets and ice creams:
- Ice Cream (700 gm, Kwality): Reduced from ₹870 to ₹844.61
- Cadbury Cake (500 gm Chocolate Oreo): Reduced from ₹890 to ₹844.61
Dry Fruits & Health Products
- Almonds (1 kg): Reduced from ₹850 to ₹799
- Dairy Milk (Amul, 500 gm): Reduced from ₹310 to ₹275.9
- Dairy Milk Powder (Header, 300 gm): Reduced from ₹199 to ₹177.11
Water & Beverages
To address everyday consumer needs, bottled water (1 liter) has also become cheaper, dropping from ₹15 to ₹14.
Government’s Appeal to Consumers
The price list clearly states that these revised rates are mandatory for shopkeepers. If any retailer charges more than the fixed rate, consumers can file complaints with the concerned department.
