Patna, March 12, 2026: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Patna campus will host a three-day event titled “Shilp Bazaar” and “Spectrum” from March 12 to March 14, 2026, aimed at promoting Bihar’s rich craft traditions and providing a platform for artisans and designers to showcase their work.

Organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the event seeks to highlight the state’s traditional handicrafts and handloom products while encouraging interaction between artisans, students, designers, and entrepreneurs. The initiative also aims to preserve traditional craft skills and create new opportunities for local artisans by connecting them with wider markets.

According to NIFT Patna Director Col. Rahul Sharma, the event is an important step toward giving Bihar’s traditional crafts national and global recognition while also encouraging young designers to explore indigenous craft traditions.

The inaugural ceremony on March 12 will be attended by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary as the chief guest. The closing ceremony on March 14 will feature Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh as the chief guest.
The Shilp Bazaar will feature around 30 stalls displaying traditional handicrafts and handloom products from different districts of Bihar. In addition, stalls set up by emerging student designers and alumni entrepreneurs from NIFT will also be part of the exhibition. More than 90 artisans are expected to participate in the three-day craft fair.
Visitors will get an opportunity to experience and purchase a variety of traditional crafts, including Madhubani paintings, Bhagalpur silk, Manjusha art, Patna’s Tikuli art, Munger embroidery, handmade jewellery from Gaya, jute products from Vaishali, stone carvings from Kaimur, cane and bamboo crafts from Samastipur, conch shell products from East Champaran, lac bangles from Madhubani, and banana-fiber products from Motihari.

Several Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged crafts of Bihar will also be showcased, such as Madhubani painting, Manjusha painting, Applique (Khatwa), Sujni embroidery, Sikki grass craft, and Bhagalpuri silk, highlighting the state’s diverse artistic heritage.
Alongside the craft exhibition, the event will also feature “Spectrum,” a series of cultural and fashion-related activities including fashion shows, cultural performances, art displays, and various student-led events, making it a vibrant celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and culture.
The three-day festival is expected to attract craft enthusiasts, students, designers, and members of the public, offering them a unique opportunity to explore and celebrate the rich cultural and artistic traditions of Bihar
