The 76 RR (Regular Recruit) 2023 batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers, currently undergoing training at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad, has embarked on a Study Cum Cultural Tour (SCCT) across various Indian states. This initiative aims to familiarize the trainee officers with the professional functioning of the police, as well as the local culture and environmental aspects of the regions they visit.
As part of this programme, the seventh group of the 76 RR 2023 batch has arrived in Bihar. This group comprises 25 probationers, including 15 male and 10 female officers. Notably, among these trainees are three officers from the Maldives.
On July 7, 2024, the visiting probationers were welcomed at Sardar Patel Bhavan, the Bihar Police Headquarters in Patna, by Mr. R.S. Bhatti, Director General of Police (DGP), Bihar. The meeting was a courtesy call to introduce the probationers to the senior police leadership in Bihar.
The event was attended by several senior officers, including Mr. Vinay Kumar, Director General and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Police Building Construction Corporation; Mr. Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Headquarters; Mr. Sanjay Singh, ADGP (Law and Order); Mr. Ajitabh Kumar, ADGP (Provisioning); Mr. M.R. Nayak, ADGP (ATS); Mrs. Garima Mallik, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Patna Range; Mr. Rajesh Kumar, IGP (Training); Mr. Daljeet Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Crime Investigation Department (CID); Mr. Ranjeet Kumar Mishra, DIG (Personnel); Mr. Deepak Varnwal, DIG (SCRB); Mr. Rajeev Mishra, DIG and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna; Mr. Nilesh Kumar, DIG (Administration); and Mr. Anil Kumar, DIG (Finance and Technical Services), among others.
The group of visiting probationers was led by Group Leader Mr. Vikas Sethia, Assistant Group Leader Ms. Shruti S. Yargatti, Treasurer Ms. Arpita Rajput, Assistant Treasurer Mr. Vibhu Krishna, and Medical Representative Mr. Vaibhav Rawat. The Maldivian probationers included Ms. Mariyam Milna, Mr. Abdulla Aglim, and Mr. Mohamed Inaas Abdul Latheef. Other probationers in the group were Mr. Mayank Mishra, Mr. Chaitanya, Ms. Diksha Langthasa, Mr. Sagar Kharde, Ms. Annu Tatu, Mr. Gautam Vivekanandan, Mr. Subhash Chandra Meena, Mr. Aditya Singhania, Ms. Anjali Sugandhi, Ms. Divyanshi Singla, Ms. Aswini G., Mr. Ashu Pant, Ms. Anna Sinha, Mr. Karthik Balakumar, Ms. Manisha Manohar, Mr. Aravind G., and Mr. Gagan Kumar.
During the meeting, DGP Bhatti addressed the visiting probationers, acquainting them with the operational aspects of the Bihar Police. He shared insights from his extensive experience in the police service, highlighting the unique challenges and strategies employed by the Bihar Police to maintain law and order.
The SCCT programme is designed to provide probationers with a comprehensive understanding of policing in diverse environments across India. By interacting with senior officers and observing local practices, the probationers gain valuable knowledge that complements their formal training at the academy. The visit to Bihar is a significant component of this educational tour, offering the young officers firsthand exposure to the state’s policing framework and cultural heritage.
This initiative underscores the importance of experiential learning in the development of future police leaders, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to serve effectively in their respective regions. The 76 RR batch’s visit to Bihar marks a crucial step in their journey towards becoming well-rounded and competent IPS officers.
