Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned lyricist and musician Padma Shri Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri has been awarded the prestigious Harivarasanam Award for 2025 by the Kerala State Government and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB).
This esteemed honor celebrates his exceptional contributions to devotional music and his pivotal role in promoting the spiritual and cultural significance of Sabarimala and Lord Ayyappa. Among his recent notable works, the devotional song Kanni Ayyappan has garnered widespread acclaim, resonating deeply with millions of listeners worldwide.
Performed by Master Adithya G. Nair, composed by Deepankuran, and penned by Kaithapram, Kanni Ayyappan has achieved remarkable success. Within just 30 days of its release on the official Adithya Nair Productions YouTube channel, the song crossed over 1 million views, received 2 lakh likes, and attracted 1,500 comments. The overwhelming popularity and spiritual depth of the song prompted the Travancore Devaswom Board to include it in daily broadcasts at Sabarimala and Pamba, further amplifying its impact among devotees.
Kaithapram was selected for the Harivarasanam Award for his outstanding contributions to music, lyrics, screenplay writing, and acting. The award includes a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and a citation, and it will be presented at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam on the auspicious occasion of Makaravilakku Day.

In a media interaction, Master Adithya G. Nair shared his transformative experiences during the pilgrimage. He described the challenging yet spiritually rewarding journey, which involved walking barefoot on the sacred hills, taking a holy dip in the Pamba River, and climbing the temple’s iconic 18 golden steps. Adithya also paid tribute to his family’s legacy, recalling how his late grandfather undertook the pilgrimage 60 times, and his father completed it 18 times, inspiring him to follow in their footsteps.
