To mark National Voter’s Day, the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Patna Women’s College organized an engaging Orientation-Cum-Sensitization Programme on January 25, 2025. The event aimed to educate and inspire students about the importance of voting and the role of the Election Commission of India in upholding democracy.
The programme commenced with an orientation session led by Dr. Vinita Priyadarshi, Nodal Officer of the ELC. Dr. Priyadarshi provided an insightful overview of the composition, functioning, and duties of the Electoral Literacy Club in the college. She emphasized the critical role ELC plays in promoting voter awareness and encouraging active civic participation among students.The chief guest for the event, Mr. Ashutosh Rai, Deputy Election Officer, delivered a compelling address that captivated the audience. He discussed the history of the Election Commission of India, shedding light on its establishment, responsibilities, and the legal framework governing its operations. Mr. Rai also highlighted the significance of voting in ensuring a vibrant and healthy democracy. He urged students to recognize their power as voters and to actively participate in the democratic process to shape the nation’s future.
The programme was skillfully coordinated by Ms. Riya, who ensured the event’s smooth execution. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Samridhi Kashyap, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, faculty members, and students for their active participation and contribution to the event’s success.
Several faculty members, including Ms. Fiza Durakshan, Mr. Adweetya Sinha, and Ms. Prachi Raj, were present at the event, along with others who lent their support to this important initiative.
