Patna, March 11, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project today. During his inspection, he formally inaugurated the Third Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Breakthrough near Patna Junction by pressing a ceremonial button.
Following the inauguration, the TBM emerged after successfully cutting through the underground metro line section. The Chief Minister closely observed the process and appreciated the ongoing construction efforts.
During the inspection, Urban Development and Housing Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh briefed CM Nitish Kumar on the progress of the Patna Metro alignment corridors 1 and 2 using a detailed site map. He informed that the metro line stretching from Malahi Pakri to Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and Patliputra Bus Terminal — covering a total of 6.01 km — is being prioritized for early completion. Authorities aim to launch this metro section by August 15, 2025.
To build the underground metro line, TBM operations commenced on November 21, 2023, starting from Gandhi Maidan Metro Station and progressing via Akashvani Underground Station to reach Patna Junction.
While reviewing the construction work near Patna Railway Junction, CM Nitish Kumar directed officials to expedite the project and ensure there are no delays. He emphasized that the Patna Metro Rail Project has been meticulously planned to improve urban connectivity and enhance public transportation in the city.
“We have been consistently monitoring the progress of the Patna Metro to ensure there are no hurdles in its timely completion. This project will significantly improve public mobility and ease travel for Patna residents,” said CM Nitish Kumar.
During the event, CM Nitish Kumar was felicitated with a green plant and a commemorative memento.
The event was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Jivesh Kumar, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Secretary Anupam Kumar, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, SSP Avkash Kumar, and senior officials from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Patna Metro Rail Project.
