Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched the registration process for plots under the ambitious ‘Anant Nagar’ Residential Scheme in Lucknow. The project, being developed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), spans 785 acres along Mohan Road and involves a total investment of ₹6,500 crore.
Speaking at the launch event held at his official residence, the Chief Minister said providing affordable and modern housing, along with improved ease of living, remains the top priority of the double-engine government. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking significant steps in the housing sector over the past decade.
“Using modern technology to deliver affordable, well-equipped housing ahead of schedule is the need of the hour. The Anant Nagar Residential Scheme reflects this vision and will soon emerge as a model for urban development and ease of living,” the CM stated.
Before addressing the event, CM Yogi reviewed a detailed model of the Anant Nagar project. He noted that it is the first major housing project being launched in Lucknow after nearly 20 years and is designed with a comprehensive town planning approach.
The project, covering nearly 800 acres with an estimated investment of ₹7,000 crore, is expected to significantly contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy. It will feature excellent connectivity through the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, expressways, and the Lucknow Ring Road.
A key feature of the project is the allocation of over 100 acres for developing an Education Hub, offering facilities ranging from pre-primary to higher, technical, and medical education. The plan includes provisions for both high-rise apartments and vacant plots, catering to every income group.
Highlighting the state’s rapid urban transformation, CM Yogi mentioned the success of the Light House Project launched two years ago in Lucknow using advanced construction technology. “Today, high-rise structures can be built within months, offering quality housing quickly and efficiently,” he said.
The Anant Nagar scheme aims to provide housing to around 1.5 lakh people. It includes the construction of 10,000 flats across 60 plots, with a special focus on affordable housing for economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower-income groups (LIG). Approximately 5,000 units will accommodate over 25,000 individuals, while 3,000 additional houses will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The plan also includes developing an Edutech City on 100 acres, 4,000 residential plots for 20,000 residents, and a 130-acre green park.
CM Yogi instructed LDA to begin preparations immediately and ensure a transparent selection process. He emphasized that no middlemen should be involved and that genuine applicants should be able to benefit directly from the scheme.
A short film showcasing the Anant Nagar project was also presented during the event.
Several dignitaries were present, including MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to CM S.P. Goyal, Principal Secretary for Housing P. Guruprasad, Housing Commissioner Dr. Balkar Singh, Lucknow Division Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, and other senior officials. Beneficiaries and stakeholders of the project also participated virtually.
