Residents of Patna and nearby districts were startled on Tuesday as mild earthquake tremors were felt twice during the day. The first tremor occurred early in the morning around 6:38 AM, causing panic as many people rushed out of their homes. The tremors, lasting approximately 30 seconds, were reported in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Munger, Kishanganj, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul, Siwan, Samastipur,and other districts.
According to the Meteorological Center in Patna, the epicenter of the morning quake was located in Tibet’s Jizang area, about 10 kilometers below the earth’s surface. The tremor was also felt in parts of Nepal and Bihar.
Later in the evening, at 5:19 PM and 5:25 PM, two more tremors were recorded with a lower magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale. These were again traced to Jizang, Tibet, with a depth of five kilometers. While the intensity was milder compared to the morning, the tremors caused concern among residents, who quickly evacuated their homes.
Fortunately, no damage or casualties were reported, and the situation remains normal. The authorities have urged residents to remain calm and follow safety protocols during such events.
