Patna Women’s College organised its ‘Annual Sports Meet 2024’

Patna Women’s College organised its ‘Annual Sports Meet 2024’ on Saturday, 20.01.2024.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Smt. Harjot Kaur Bamhrah, I.A.S., Additional Chief
Secretary, Art, Culture and Youth Department, Government of Bihar; Guests of Honor, Smt.
Sita Sahu, Mayor, Patna Municipal Corporation, Patna, Bihar and Prof. K. C. Sinha, Vice
Chancellor, Patna University, Patna. The programme began with the hoisting of the college
flag followed by the flagship March Past, lighting the torch and oath taking ceremony. The
student showed their discipline and dedication through a splendid March Past. It’s been two
years marking the start of the College’s very own marching band composed of the students
themselves. This was followed by a welcome song and an address by the Principal.


In her address, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. welcomed the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour
with great applause. She said “Sports is an integral part of our College. It keeps student fit
and active physically and mentally. Only the lessons learned on the fields is primary and
winning or losing is secondary”. She also acknowledged the hard-work of the students and
staffs.


Some of the sporting events were the 100 metre hurdles, three-legged race, 200 metre run,
400 metre run, obstacle race and many more.
The winners for the March Past were B.Com. (Group – A : 1st Prize), B.A. (Group – A : 2nd
Prize) and B.Com. (Group – B : 3rd Prize).
The Indoor Champion was Apoorva Prasad, Zoology – III, The Individual Athletic Champion
was Sweety Kumari, Physics, B.Sc. – III and the Runner up was Samriddhi Kashyap,
Political Science, B.A. – II.


The students displayed a mesmerising amalgamation of sports and dance wherein they
presented physical activities as performing arts with a dance. The coordination of the students
in Yogasana, Zumba, Taekwondo and Sports dance was exceptionally loved by the audience.
Addressing the students, the Chief Guest, Smt. Harjot Kaur Bamrah expressed her delight to
be a part of Patna Women’s College Annual Sports Day Event. She was flabbergasted by
enthusiasm of the students. She congratulated the entire team of Patna Women’s College for
grand success of Annual Sports Day Programme.

She quoted “We are best of best, if we put
our efforts, we are capable of conquering the world. Healthy body has healthy minds. For
competitive places, right combination of two mixes – Sports and Academics are required”.
She also said Patna Women’s College is the best College in the State, one is privileged to be
part of it. One should be aware of the legal rights and what one is capable of.
The Guest of Honour, Smt. Sita Sahu shared her words of wisdom. She congratulated the
Principal, the staff and the students for their hard-work.
The Guest of Honour Prof. K. C. Sinha congratulated each and every participant. It was his
first experience of seeing such lively sports day programme held in Patna Women’s College.
He also added “Today’s time is of Knowledge, Science and Technology and competition
should be performed in a healthy manner”. He emphasized on the importance of discipline

among all in every aspect of life. He congratulated Principal, Students and Staffs for their
hard-work.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Manjula Sushila, Head, Department of Hindi and Sports
Incharge of Patna Women’s College, Ms. Shweta Singh and Aarti Singh. The overall
comparing was done by Dr. Soofia Fatima, Dr. Zareen Fatima and Siddhi Arya and Anvita,
Final year students of Mass Communication.
The event was concluded with prize distribution for various games.
