Patna: The political atmosphere in Bihar has heated up over the satellite township scheme. The key decision taken in the first cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has given the opposition an opportunity to target the government. The state government has announced the development of modern townships in 11 cities, including Patna. Under this plan, an interim ban has been imposed on the buying and selling of land, transfer, and construction activities in identified areas.

The opposition has strongly reacted to this move, calling it against the interests of common people. Opposition leaders argue that the decision will not only impact the land market but may also affect the state’s revenue.
Critics contend, “Bihar is already running on borrowed funds and is under financial pressure. In such a situation, temporarily halting a major source of revenue like land transactions does not seem logical. The state has already suffered revenue losses due to prohibition, and this decision could further increase the pressure.”
The opposition has also questioned how revenue growth will be achieved through such schemes when the state is already dependent on loans. Concerns have also been raised about the potential impact of this decision on employment and income opportunities for local residents.
However, the government has not yet issued a detailed response to these allegations. It is believed that the government views this initiative as a significant step toward urban development and strengthening infrastructure.
For now, political rhetoric over the satellite township plan has intensified, and the issue is expected to gain further momentum in the coming days.
