Tree Plantation Drive Held at Litera Public School on the Occasion of Tulsi Vivah

Patna, Correspondent: In celebration of Dev Uthani Ekadashi and Tulsi Vivah, a large-scale tree plantation drive was organized by the Women’s Welfare Committee at Litera Public School, Maujipur’s main branch. The drive included the plantation of around 200 saplings, including fruit-bearing trees like gooseberry and lemon, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and raising awareness among students.

The event was graced by Nitesh Ray, the Deputy Director of the Bihar Government’s Horticulture Department, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Ray emphasized the urgent need for tree plantation and environmental preservation in today’s rapidly urbanizing world. He highlighted the essential role that trees play in maintaining ecological balance, enhancing biodiversity, and combating climate change. He encouraged everyone present to carry forward this mission of tree planting as a lifelong commitment.

Ray’s words resonated deeply with the students of Litera Public School, who were inspired to pledge to plant at least one tree annually. This pledge symbolizes a long-term commitment by the school community toward environmental stewardship, setting an example for other institutions in the region.

The event saw active participation from key members of the Women’s Welfare Committee, including Secretary Poonam Chaudhary, Counselor Vrinda Singh, and Vinita Kochar. Chaudhary and Kochar, in their speeches, spoke about the critical role of plants and trees in human life, stressing their importance in maintaining a healthy environment and sustaining life. Their speeches highlighted how trees provide us with oxygen, support wildlife, and act as natural air purifiers, making them indispensable to the ecosystem.

Counselor Vrinda Singh took a unique approach in her address, focusing on the psychological benefits of tree planting and the human connection to nature. She spoke about how spending time around trees and green spaces is known to reduce stress, enhance mood, and foster a sense of well-being. Singh encouraged the students to maintain a lifelong relationship with nature, urging them to nurture trees as companions and take pride in their role as guardians of the environment.

The entire event was organized under the leadership of Litera Public School’s Director, Ashutosh Mehrotra, who played a pivotal role in ensuring the program’s success. Mehrotra expressed his pride in the students’ enthusiasm and commitment toward the cause, emphasizing the need for environmental education and hands-on initiatives to build responsible, nature-conscious citizens.

The event concluded with the planting of saplings across the school grounds, transforming it into a budding green space. The Women’s Welfare Committee distributed pamphlets on the importance of tree plantation, emphasizing that each individual can contribute to a greener world. The committee also shared plans to organize periodic follow-up sessions to ensure the well-being of the saplings and to monitor their growth, demonstrating the ongoing commitment of Litera Public School to sustainable practices.

This plantation drive not only promoted environmental awareness but also instilled a sense of responsibility among students and the community, underscoring the importance of taking actionable steps toward a sustainable future. With this initiative, Litera Public School hopes to inspire other institutions and individuals to actively participate in such environmental endeavors.
